Our research forest properties and campus offices regularly welcome a variety of visitors, including researchers, faculty, practitioners, alumni, and members of the public interested in learning more about forestry. Our properties are generally not open to the public, so if you are interested in visiting a forest, please contact our Research Forest Manager, Ariel Roughton. To meet with someone on the UC Berkeley campus or at the Richmond Field Station, please contact Rachelle Hedges, Project and Policy Analyst for Berkeley Forests.
Tours and Workshops
Workshops, tours, and other events are regularly hosted at Berkeley Forests. These include legislator tours, class field trips for K-12 schools, college-level field trips, workshops for landowners and practitioners, and more. If you are interested in attending or hosting a field tour or workshop at one of our research forest properties, please contact Ariel Roughton
Self-Guided Tours
Berkeley Forests offers a self-guided tour at Blodgett Forest Research Station on the Trail of Epiphany, a three mile tour through various management alternatives and experiments. Visitors can read signs as they hike to learn about the research that goes on at Blodgett, the flora and fauna of the forest, Blodgett’s history, and more. This tour is a great way to see forest stands being managed using a variety of techniques and witness firsthand how these methods can improve forest health and fire resiliency.
The Blodgett gate closes at 4:00PM. The main office is open from 7:30AM-4:00PM Monday-Friday. If you have any questions, please contact Ariel Roughton
